The independent Veterinary Clinic of Tinos - Symviosis was founded in 2021 by veterinarian Manolis Vorrisis, with 20 years of experience in small animal veterinary medicine. It is a continuation of Manolis Vorrisis visits to Tinos since 2011 and the establishment of the Tinos Veterinary practice in 2018. He has worked in Athens, has received further training in the Netherlands (Utrecht University), and has also worked in the United Kingdom (Royal Vet College). He has been in the Cyclades since 2010. In addition, he operates the non-profit organisation welivetogether.gr, sensitised by the situation of cats on the streets of the islands.
The clinic staff (2 veterinarians and 3 nurses) cover a wide range of cases. Our activity mainly concerns companion animals while occasionally covering the needs of other animals. Visits to the clinic are by appointment, while home visits are also made when necessary. Emergencies are covered 24 hours a day, with a veterinarian available on the phone to respond to the urgent needs of our patients.
What to expect from the Tinos Veterinary Clinic.
This includes vaccinations, electronic identification, health advice, checking your pet's weight, preventive blood tests, parasite control, and testing for infectious diseases (e.g., leishmaniasis).
We cover a wide range of pathological cases supported by our laboratory. Such cases concern infectious diseases, digestive diseases, cardiorespiratory diseases, endocrine diseases (diabetes mellitus, feline hyperthyroidism, Cushing's syndrome, etc.), haematopoietic diseases, urinary diseases (infections, urolithiasis, bladder polyps, pyelonephritis, etc.), neoplastic diseases (lymphoma, leukaemia), and dermatological and dental cases.
For valid and timely diagnosis, our cases are supported by a state-of-the-art haematology and biochemical analyser in our diagnostic laboratory.
Since 2025, we have been offering our patients electrochemotherapy for the treatment of neoplastic diseases.
The clinic has digital radiography and ultrasound to investigate our cases.
Chest and abdominal X-rays, contrast X-rays, spinal hernia X-rays, and open mouth X-rays are some of the common tests. With ultrasound, we visualise various pathological conditions such as pyometra, urolithiasis, neoplasms of the spleen and other organs, diseases of the liver and bile ducts, and the heart, while with the help of ultrasound, cell aspirates and organ biopsies are performed.
Injuries, dystocia, seizures, urethral obstruction, heatstroke, glaucoma, and neurological conditions are some of the emergency situations we deal with at the clinic.
We perform a wide variety of surgical procedures, mainly of soft tissue. The clinic has two operating rooms, one septic and one aseptic, in separate areas of the clinic. The anaesthesia management of patients is done with an anaesthetic machine, while the responsibility for the proper functioning of the operating room lies exclusively with a nurse.
The procedures we perform include sterilisation / pyometra, diaphragmatic hernia, cystotomy, splenectomy, enterectomy and enteroanastomosis, and various hernias such as inguinal hernia, perineal hernia, and umbilical hernia. Other surgical cases include ear diseases (ear haematoma, ear canal excision, pinna amputation) and eye diseases (ectropion, ciliary gland protrusion, etc.).
For orthopaedic surgical cases, we collaborate with an external partner who comes to Tinos, contributing to serving our patients and avoiding the inconvenience of travelling away from Tinos.
The clinic has 17 beds for sick animals in 3 wards and areas; dogs and cats are hospitalised in separate rooms. Nursing staff are on site at the clinic every day throughout the year.
